What counts as a lesson. One chapter turned into slides, an infographic, an audio lesson, flashcards, and a quiz. Studying it, re-reading it, retaking the quiz, and asking the tutor as many questions as you like never count against the allowance. Only generating a new chapter does. A full school year of one subject is usually 30–40 lessons.
Which formats work. Upload any curriculum you have purchased as a PDF, Word document, or PowerPoint. That is all Esrala needs to find the chapters and build the lesson material.
What to compare it to. A private tutor runs $50 to $80 an hour, for one subject, on their schedule. At $99 a month, Esrala costs less than two hours with a tutor, teaches the full curriculum you chose rather than a slice of it, and tailors every lesson to your individual student.
Paying with ESA funds
Esrala is an approved ClassWallet vendor. We issue a per-student invoice you submit from your ClassWallet account, written in the format Arizona reviewers ask for.
Card or ESA funds
Pay monthly by card at checkout, processed by Stripe, which never shows us your card number. Or pay from your ESA balance by the year or by the quarter: $1,188 or $297 for Esrala, $1,788 or $447 for Esrala Plus, plus the 2% ClassWallet processing fee.
How the invoice works
Choose Pay with ClassWallet in the app, pick a year or a quarter, and we issue an invoice with your student named on it. Submit it from your ClassWallet account, a purchase review specialist reviews it, and access begins as soon as the payment clears. ESA terms end on June 30 so they never span two school years of funding.
Choose the software category, not tutoring. When you submit the invoice, select Educational software and apps, under supplemental materials. If your account does not show that option, choose Curricula. Do not choose tutoring or teaching services. Esrala is software, and the wrong category is the most common reason an order gets sent back. Every invoice we issue prints the full submission steps on it, in English and Spanish.
You can also pay first and claim it back. If you would rather not wait on an order review, pay by card inside Esrala and submit the same invoice with your receipt as a reimbursement request. A quarterly term keeps the amount you front small.
Where things stand today. Esrala is an approved ClassWallet vendor, so Arizona ESA families can pay from their account balance. We are not in the ClassWallet marketplace catalogue yet, which is why payment runs on an invoice rather than a checkout button. Odyssey is still in application, and we will not say otherwise until it is approved. Card payment is available now for everyone. Always confirm with your own program administrator that a purchase is an allowable expense before you spend ESA funds. Approval rules differ by state and by program, and they change.
Questions families ask
Do I need to know the subject to use this?
No. That is the point. Esrala reads the curriculum you chose and does the explaining. Your student works through the lesson with a tutor that knows that chapter, and you see how they did.
Do I need my own curriculum?
Yes. Esrala teaches the books you already own or have been assigned. Upload it as a PDF, Word document, or PowerPoint and it does the rest.
Why per student rather than per family?
Because each student gets their own tutor and their own lessons, written for them from your book, with their own record of mastery. Two students is two of everything, not one shared account.
Is Plus worth it for one child?
Often not. If you only need the learning experience, the $99 plan has all of it, and nothing about the teaching is held back. Plus is for families who need the paperwork: an exportable progress report for portfolio review or an ESA program, and results kept for life rather than a year.
Which expense category should I choose in ClassWallet?
Educational software and apps, under supplemental materials. If your account does not show that option, choose Curricula. Do not choose tutoring or teaching services. Esrala is software, and picking the wrong category is the most common reason an order gets sent back. Every invoice we issue prints the submission steps on it.
Why does Esrala cost more than other homeschool software?
Because it is closer to a tutor than to a workbook. Other programs sell you their curriculum and their videos. Esrala teaches the curriculum you already chose, writes each lesson for one student from your book, answers their questions on the page in front of them, and tracks mastery chapter by chapter. At $99 a month that is less than two hours with a private tutor, and it covers every subject you upload rather than one.
Is Esrala available in Spanish?
Yes. Each student profile is set to English or Spanish, and so is the parent account. They can differ, and either can be changed later from Settings. Everything Esrala writes for that student is in their language, even when the curriculum you upload is in another.
What if my child stops using it?
Cancel that student from your account and billing stops at the end of the period. You can export or delete their data at any time.
What grades does Esrala cover?
Kindergarten through 12th grade. Lessons take their depth and tone from the material you upload, so a third grade reader and a high school chemistry text each get lessons written at their level.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Manage or cancel from the Billing page inside the app, and access runs to the end of the period you already paid for. No phone calls, no forms.
How much of my time does this take?
Uploading a book takes about a minute. Esrala prepares and teaches the lessons from there; your part is checking results, and the parent view is built to make that a two minute glance.
What if my child struggles with a lesson?
Esrala slows down and explains the idea a different way instead of moving on. Every retake gets fresh questions, and the next lesson is written knowing exactly how the last one went.
