No student accounts, parental consent before any child record, zero-retention AI providers, no advertising, and full deletion control.
Children have no accounts
No student login, no student email address, no password for a child to lose or share. Student profiles live inside the parent’s account and are chosen from a picker.
Consent comes first
The software refuses to create a student profile until a parent or guardian explicitly consents. We record which version of the notice you agreed to, so an old agreement never silently covers new practices.
The AI keeps nothing
Every request Esrala sends is restricted to providers certified for zero data retention that are contractually barred from training on it. If no such provider is available, the request fails rather than falling back to one that keeps your data.
No ads. No data sales.
We do not serve advertising, build advertising profiles, or sell or rent personal information. There are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the classroom.
No IP, no location, no microphone
We do not collect IP addresses or location. Read-aloud uses your device’s own speech synthesis, so no audio is recorded and none leaves the device. There is no speech-to-text.
A lock on the parent side
Set a numeric passcode and uploads, billing, and other children’s results stay parent-only, even on a shared family device.
Delete means delete
Remove a student and their lessons, progress, quiz attempts, notes, and chats go with them. Close the account and everything belonging to it is removed.
Only a parent can change lessons
Rebuilding or deleting a lesson is a parent action. A student cannot erase their own record, and cannot reach a sibling’s.
A word about AI accuracy. Everything Esrala produces is generated from your book by an AI model, and AI can be wrong while sounding certain. We reduce that risk where we can — lessons are written from your source text rather than the model’s general knowledge, and page citations are checked against the chapter’s real page range before they are saved. It is still a study aid, not a teacher. A responsible adult should stay in the loop, and the book itself remains the authority.
